Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 8 oz feta cheese block (cold, drained and crumbled)
- 4 oz cream cheese (cold)
- 1/2 cup thick sour cream (cold)
- 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil (plus more for serving)
- 1 1/2 Tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed, after zesting)
- 1 garlic clove (minced or pressed)
- 1/4 tsp fine sea salt (plus more to taste)
Garnishes and Serving
- 1–2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil (for drizzling)
- Parsley (finely chopped, for garnish)
- Zest from 1 lemon
- Red pepper flakes (crushed, for garnish)
- Freshly ground black pepper (for garnish)
- Pita bread, pita chips, and sliced vegetables (such as cucumbers, radishes, bell pepper, small tomatoes) for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the mixture: In the bowl of a food processor fitted with a chopping blade, combine the crumbled cold feta cheese, cream cheese, thick sour cream, extra virgin olive oil, freshly squeezed lemon juice, minced garlic, and sea salt. Blend on high speed for 3-4 minutes, pausing halfway to scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure even mixing and a completely smooth texture.
- Transfer and garnish: Spoon the whipped feta mixture into a shallow serving bowl. Use the back of a spoon to create gentle grooves on the surface. Drizzle with additional extra virgin olive oil, then sprinkle with crushed red pepper flakes, finely chopped parsley, freshly grated lemon zest, and freshly ground black pepper for a colorful and flavorful finish.
- Serve or store: Serve the dip immediately accompanied by pita chips, pita bread, or a selection of sliced fresh vegetables. Alternatively, cover and refrigerate to chill until ready to serve, allowing the flavors to meld further.
Notes
- Using cold ingredients helps achieve the best whipped texture.
- Adjust garlic and lemon juice quantities according to your taste preference.
- For a creamier dip, ensure cream cheese and sour cream are full-fat and sufficiently thick.
- This dip can be made a few hours ahead and refrigerated, but fresh toppings are best added just before serving.
- Substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream for a slightly different tang and lower fat content.
