Description
A warm and comforting tuna melt sandwich with a creamy tuna filling, melted cheese, and crispy golden bread.
Ingredients
- 4 slices bread (sourdough or sandwich bread)
- 1 can (150g) tuna, drained
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons celery, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons red onion, finely chopped
- 2 slices cheese (cheddar or Swiss)
- 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix tuna, mayonnaise, celery, red onion, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Spread butter or drizzle olive oil on the outside of each bread slice.
- Place the tuna mixture on two slices of bread and top each with a slice of cheese.
- Cover with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the sandwiches until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted, about 3–4 minutes per side.
- Flip and cook the other side until evenly toasted.
- Slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Use cheddar or Swiss cheese for best melting.
- Drain tuna well to avoid sogginess.
- Add tomato slices or pickles for extra flavor.
- Substitute Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
- Add mustard or hot sauce for a spicy kick.
- Reheat in a skillet or oven to maintain crispiness.
