Description

Celebrate your patriotic spirit with these festive Red White & Blue American Flag Jello Shots, perfect for summer parties like the Fourth of July or Memorial Day. This layered recipe combines cherry and berry blue jello with a creamy white layer made from sweetened condensed milk, all boozed up with vodka for a fun and colorful treat.

Ingredients

Blue Layer

  • 3 ounces berry blue jello
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ½ cup cold water
  • ½ cup vodka

White Layer

  • 0.5 ounce unflavored gelatin (two 0.25 oz packets)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ½ cup cold water
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup vodka

Red Layer

  • 3 ounces cherry jello
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ½ cup cold water
  • ½ cup vodka

Additional

  • 60 1 oz disposable cups with lids
  • Star sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the workspace: Arrange the 1 oz disposable cups evenly on a tray or baking sheet, ensuring there is enough space to transport and chill the jello layers in the refrigerator.
  2. Make the blue layer: In a large measuring cup with a spout, dissolve 3 ounces of berry blue jello in 1 cup boiling water, whisking well. Add ½ cup cold water and ½ cup vodka, mix thoroughly. Carefully pour the blue mixture into each cup to fill about one third. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or until firm.
  3. Make the white layer: In another measuring cup, sprinkle 0.5 ounce unflavored gelatin over ½ cup cold water and let it bloom for about 5 minutes until thickened. Stir in 1 cup boiling water until dissolved. Add 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk and ½ cup vodka, mixing well. Allow mixture to cool slightly before gently pouring it on top of the firm blue layer until each cup is two-thirds full. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until set.
  4. Make the red layer: Dissolve 3 ounces cherry jello in 1 cup boiling water. Add ½ cup cold water and ½ cup vodka, stirring well. Pour this mixture on top of the white layer to fill the cups. Return the cups to the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours or until completely set.
  5. Optional decoration: Once fully set, top jello shots with star sprinkles for an extra festive touch. Seal cups with lids for easy transport and serving.

Notes

  • Use unflavored gelatin for a creamy white layer that holds well between the jello colors.
  • Adjust the vodka quantity according to your taste preference, but total alcohol content contributes to the liquid proportions for proper setting.
  • Chill time is essential for each layer to fully set to keep the layers distinct and prevent mixing.
  • Star sprinkles add a decorative, festive touch but are optional.
  • These jello shots are best served chilled directly from the refrigerator.
