Ingredients
Base Layer
- 1 1/2 cups crushed graham crackers (use gluten-free if needed)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter (processed, not natural)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Chocolate Layer
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (dairy-free chocolate chips for dietary restrictions)
- 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
Instructions
- Prepare the Base: In a mixing bowl, combine crushed graham crackers, powdered sugar, creamy peanut butter, and melted butter. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well blended, then press the mixture evenly into the bottom of a lined 9×9-inch pan to form the base layer.
- Make the Chocolate Peanut Butter Mixture: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring after each until smooth. Stir in 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter until fully incorporated and glossy.
- Assemble the Bars: Pour the chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the prepared base layer in the pan. Spread evenly with a spatula to cover the base completely.
- Chill to Set: Place the pan in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours or until the bars are firm and set. Once set, cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- If you have dietary restrictions, use gluten-free graham crackers and dairy-free chocolate chips to make these bars suitable.
- For best results, use creamy processed peanut butter instead of natural or oily varieties to ensure the bars are smooth and hold together well.
- You can experiment with different nut butters such as almond or cashew for variations.
- Store the bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep them fresh.
