Description

Bright and smoky Grilled Margarita Shrimp marinated in a refreshing blend of lime, orange juice, garlic, honey, and seasonings. These juicy grilled shrimp are packed with bold citrus flavor and make a perfect dish for summer cookouts, tacos, salads, or quick dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tequila
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Peel and devein the shrimp if needed, leaving the tails on if desired.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the lime juice, orange juice, olive oil, tequila, honey, garlic, chili powder, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Add the shrimp to the marinade and toss to coat evenly.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes.
  5. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  6. Thread the shrimp onto skewers for easier grilling.
  7. Grill the shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and lightly charred.
  8. Brush the shrimp with extra marinade while grilling for additional flavor.
  9. Remove from the grill and garnish with fresh cilantro and lime wedges before serving.

Notes

  • Add jalapeños or cayenne pepper for extra heat.
  • Pineapple juice can be added for a sweeter tropical flavor.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, replace tequila with extra citrus juice.
  • Serve the shrimp in tacos with cabbage slaw and avocado.
  • Frozen shrimp work well after proper thawing.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
