Bright and smoky Grilled Margarita Shrimp marinated in a refreshing blend of lime, orange juice, garlic, honey, and seasonings. These juicy grilled shrimp are packed with bold citrus flavor and make a perfect dish for summer cookouts, tacos, salads, or quick dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons tequila
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Lime wedges for serving
Instructions
- Peel and devein the shrimp if needed, leaving the tails on if desired.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the lime juice, orange juice, olive oil, tequila, honey, garlic, chili powder, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
- Add the shrimp to the marinade and toss to coat evenly.
- Cover and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Thread the shrimp onto skewers for easier grilling.
- Grill the shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and lightly charred.
- Brush the shrimp with extra marinade while grilling for additional flavor.
- Remove from the grill and garnish with fresh cilantro and lime wedges before serving.
Notes
- Add jalapeños or cayenne pepper for extra heat.
- Pineapple juice can be added for a sweeter tropical flavor.
- For a non-alcoholic version, replace tequila with extra citrus juice.
- Serve the shrimp in tacos with cabbage slaw and avocado.
