Ingredients
Shells and Filling
- 12 large pasta shells
- 1 cup cooked chicken (shredded)
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Sauce and Toppings
- 2 cups Alfredo sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for topping)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
- Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the stuffed shells.
- Cook Pasta Shells: Boil the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain carefully and set aside to cool slightly.
- Prepare Filling: In a large bowl, combine shredded cooked chicken, ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Assemble Dish: Spread 1 cup of Alfredo sauce evenly on the bottom of a baking dish to prevent sticking and add flavor.
- Stuff Shells: Fill each cooked pasta shell generously with the chicken and cheese mixture, then arrange the stuffed shells in the baking dish.
- Add Sauce and Cheese: Pour the remaining Alfredo sauce over the arranged shells in the dish. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly on top.
- Bake: Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted, bubbly, and golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the dish cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.
Notes
- Use homemade Alfredo sauce for a richer flavor, or choose a quality store-bought version for convenience.
- Ensure pasta shells are cooked al dente to avoid mushy texture after baking.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
- For added flavor, sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes or garlic powder in the filling.
- Substitute chicken with cooked turkey or vegetarian alternatives if preferred.
