Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked brisket (sliced or shredded)
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 4–6 slices bread (sourdough or sandwich bread)
- 1 cup cheddar or provolone cheese (sliced or shredded)
- 2 tablespoons butter (softened)
- 1/4 red onion (thinly sliced)
- 1/4 cup pickles (optional)
Instructions
- In a pan over medium heat, warm the brisket with barbecue sauce until heated through and well coated.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Place bread slices butter-side down onto a skillet or griddle.
- Add a layer of cheese on the bread, followed by a generous portion of BBQ brisket.
- Top with sliced red onions and optional pickles.
- Place another slice of bread on top, butter-side up.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing lightly, until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, let rest briefly, then slice and serve warm.
