Description

Rich and satisfying BBQ brisket melts featuring tender, saucy brisket, gooey melted cheese, and crispy toasted bread—perfect for a quick and hearty comfort meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked brisket (sliced or shredded)
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 46 slices bread (sourdough or sandwich bread)
  • 1 cup cheddar or provolone cheese (sliced or shredded)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 1/4 red onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1/4 cup pickles (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a pan over medium heat, warm the brisket with barbecue sauce until heated through and well coated.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place bread slices butter-side down onto a skillet or griddle.
  4. Add a layer of cheese on the bread, followed by a generous portion of BBQ brisket.
  5. Top with sliced red onions and optional pickles.
  6. Place another slice of bread on top, butter-side up.
  7. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing lightly, until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted.
  8. Remove from heat, let rest briefly, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use leftover or store-bought brisket for convenience.
  • Choose sturdy bread like sourdough for best texture.
  • Try different cheeses like mozzarella or pepper jack for variation.
  • Add coleslaw inside for extra crunch and flavor.
  • Reheat in a skillet or oven to maintain crispiness.
