Description

Crispy and tangy air fryer fried pickles made with dill pickle chips coated in a seasoned breadcrumb crust and cooked until golden brown. A lighter alternative to traditional fried pickles, perfect for parties, game days, appetizers, or snacking.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces dill pickle chips, drained
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing (optional dipping sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional dipping sauce)

Instructions

  1. Drain the pickle chips and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels.
  2. Place the flour in a shallow bowl.
  3. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs and water.
  4. In a third bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs, seasoned breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper.
  5. Coat each pickle chip in flour, dip into the egg mixture, and then coat evenly with the breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Arrange the coated pickles in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  7. Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray.
  8. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking, until golden brown and crispy.
  9. For the dipping sauce, stir together the ranch dressing and hot sauce in a small bowl.
  10. Serve the fried pickles immediately with the dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • Patting the pickles dry helps the breading adhere properly and prevents sogginess.
  • Use pickle spears instead of chips if desired, adjusting the cooking time slightly.
  • Add cayenne pepper to the breading for extra heat.
  • Substitute gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.
  • Crushed cornflakes can replace part of the breadcrumbs for added crunch.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 3 to 4 minutes for best crispiness.
