Description
A quick and flavorful meal featuring juicy steak served over fragrant rice, finished with a bright lemon garlic herb sauce.
Ingredients
- 500 g steak (sirloin or flank)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1/4 cup fresh herbs (parsley, cilantro, or dill), chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup rice
- 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
Instructions
- Heat a little olive oil in a pot and sauté chopped onion until soft.
- Add rice and toast for 1–2 minutes, then pour in broth.
- Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
- Season steak with salt and black pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat and sear the steak to desired doneness.
- Remove steak and let it rest.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant.
- Add lemon juice, lemon zest, and fresh herbs, stirring to combine.
- Slice the steak and return it briefly to the pan to coat in the sauce.
- Serve steak over rice and spoon extra sauce on top.

- Let steak rest before slicing to keep it juicy.
- Use less butter for a lighter version.
- Add vegetables like spinach or asparagus for extra nutrition.
- Adjust lemon juice to taste for more or less brightness.
- Reheat with a splash of broth to keep rice moist.
