Description

A quick and flavorful meal featuring juicy steak served over fragrant rice, finished with a bright lemon garlic herb sauce.


Ingredients

  • 500 g steak (sirloin or flank)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup fresh herbs (parsley, cilantro, or dill), chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup rice
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat a little olive oil in a pot and sauté chopped onion until soft.
  2. Add rice and toast for 1–2 minutes, then pour in broth.
  3. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  4. Season steak with salt and black pepper.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat and sear the steak to desired doneness.
  6. Remove steak and let it rest.
  7. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  8. Add lemon juice, lemon zest, and fresh herbs, stirring to combine.
  9. Slice the steak and return it briefly to the pan to coat in the sauce.
  10. Serve steak over rice and spoon extra sauce on top.

Notes

  • Let steak rest before slicing to keep it juicy.
  • Use less butter for a lighter version.
  • Add vegetables like spinach or asparagus for extra nutrition.
  • Adjust lemon juice to taste for more or less brightness.
  • Reheat with a splash of broth to keep rice moist.
