Description
Strawberry Danish is a buttery, flaky pastry filled with sweet cream cheese and fresh strawberries, finished with a drizzle of glaze. It’s an easy yet elegant treat that’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet snack.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk or lemon juice (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out puff pastry and cut into 6–8 squares or rectangles.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Spoon a dollop of cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry square.
- Top with a few slices of fresh strawberries.
- Fold edges slightly or leave open-faced. Brush edges with egg wash.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden and puffed.
- Cool slightly, then drizzle with glaze made by mixing powdered sugar and milk or lemon juice.
Notes
- Use strawberry jam or compote when fresh berries aren’t available.
- Swap strawberries for blueberries, raspberries, or peaches.
- Add lemon zest to the cream cheese filling for a bright flavor.
- Make a braid-style danish with one large sheet of pastry.
- Top with sliced almonds or coarse sugar for extra crunch.
