This Spicy Cajun Shrimp & Sausage Skillet combines succulent shrimp and smoky sausage in a vibrant, spicy sauce with peppers, onions, and bold Cajun seasoning. It’s a one-pan, comforting dish that delivers a flavorful kick perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 12 oz andouille or smoked sausage, sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- 2 bell peppers (red, green, or yellow), sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup chicken broth or shrimp stock
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss shrimp with half the Cajun seasoning. Set aside.
- Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage slices and cook for 3–4 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add bell peppers and onion. Sauté for 4–5 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Return sausage to skillet. Sprinkle with remaining Cajun seasoning and optional red pepper flakes. Stir to coat.
- Pour in broth and bring to a simmer. Add shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
- Stir in lemon juice and parsley. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Serve hot over rice, grits, or with crusty bread.
