Description

Sour Cream Beef Noodle Casserole is a creamy, cheesy, and comforting dish made with seasoned ground beef, tomato sauce, egg noodles, and a rich sour cream and cheese mixture. It’s a family-friendly meal perfect for weeknights or make-ahead dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cottage cheese (or ricotta)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
  • Optional: chopped parsley or green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook egg noodles according to package directions until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat oil and sauté chopped onion until soft. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in minced garlic, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika. Let simmer for a few minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix sour cream and cottage cheese. Fold in cooked noodles until evenly coated.
  6. Layer half of the noodle mixture in the baking dish, then half of the beef mixture. Repeat layers.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions before serving.
