Description
This Pizza Burger with Pepperoni & Mozzarella turns a juicy beef patty into a mini pizza on a bun—topped with marinara, melted mozzarella, and crisp pepperoni. It’s a fun fusion of two all-time favorites in every flavorful bite.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 4 slices mozzarella cheese (or 4 oz fresh mozzarella)
- 12–16 slices pepperoni
- 4 burger buns (brioche or potato recommended)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (for toasting buns)
- Optional toppings: fresh basil or oregano, red pepper flakes, grated Parmesan
Instructions
- Season ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Form into 4 patties, slightly larger than buns, with a shallow dimple in the center.
- Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side or to desired doneness.
- In the last minute of cooking, spoon marinara sauce on each patty, top with mozzarella and pepperoni. Cover or tent to melt cheese.
- Meanwhile, brush buns with olive oil or butter and toast cut-side down in a skillet until golden.
- Spread extra marinara on the bottom bun if desired. Add the patty, top with fresh herbs, Parmesan, or red pepper flakes, and place the top bun.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- Use fresh butcher ground beef for enhanced flavor.
- Cover skillet while melting cheese to slightly crisp the pepperoni edges.
- Substitute ground turkey or plant-based patties for dietary preference.
- Add sautéed mushrooms or peppers for more pizza flavor.
- Brioche or potato buns toast beautifully and balance the savory toppings.
