Description

One-Pot Smoky Honey BBQ Steak Pasta is a comforting, flavorful dish featuring seared steak strips simmered with pasta in a smoky honey BBQ sauce. Rich, savory, and sweet, this meal is cooked in one pan for minimal cleanup and maximum flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb steak (sirloin, ribeye, or flank steak), thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz uncooked pasta (penne, rotini, or shells work well)
  • 2 cups beef broth or water
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (smoky or hickory-style)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional for creaminess)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Monterey Jack)
  • Fresh parsley or green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the steak with salt, pepper, paprika, and chili powder. Sear the steak slices until browned, then remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until soft and fragrant.
  4. Stir in the uncooked pasta, beef broth, honey, and BBQ sauce. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce the heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
  6. Stir the cooked steak back into the pot and add a splash of cream if you prefer a richer dish.
  7. Mix in shredded cheese until melted and creamy.
  8. Finish with chopped parsley or green onions and serve hot.

Notes

  • Add bell peppers or corn for a Southwest-style touch.
  • Use a spicy BBQ sauce or add cayenne pepper to kick up the heat.
  • For a smoky bacon twist, cook chopped bacon first and use the drippings to sear the steak.
  • Swap the steak for grilled chicken or sausage for a different protein.
  • This recipe is ideal for a quick weeknight meal with minimal cleanup.
