Description

One-Pan Cheesy Meat & Potato Skillet is a hearty, comforting meal made with seasoned ground beef, golden potatoes, and melty cheese—all cooked together in one pan for a quick and satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese blend)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Optional: 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • Optional: chopped green onions, sour cream, or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced potatoes and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and mostly tender.
  2. Push potatoes to one side. Add ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until beef is browned and fully cooked, breaking it up as it cooks.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and season with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  4. Mix potatoes and beef together evenly in the skillet. Reduce heat to low.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top. Cover the skillet and let it sit for a few minutes until cheese is melted and gooey.
  6. Garnish with parsley or green onions. Serve hot with a dollop of sour cream if desired.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or sausage for a different flavor.
  • Add veggies like bell peppers, mushrooms, or spinach.
  • Mix in taco seasoning or hot sauce for bold flavor.
  • Crack eggs on top and bake for a breakfast version.
  • Use thawed frozen potatoes for convenience.
