Description
Olive Oil Dip with Warm Bread is a quick, elegant appetizer featuring flavorful extra virgin olive oil seasoned with garlic, herbs, and spices. Served with crusty warm bread, it’s rustic, comforting, and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil (high quality)
- 1 clove garlic, minced or roasted
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar (optional)
- 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1 loaf crusty bread (baguette, ciabatta, or sourdough)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Warm the bread for 8–10 minutes until crusty on the outside and soft inside.
- Pour olive oil into a shallow serving dish or small bowl.
- Add garlic, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
- If desired, drizzle in balsamic vinegar and sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
- Slice or tear the warmed bread and serve alongside the dip.
Notes
- Use fresh herbs for brighter flavor—double the amount if substituting dried herbs.
- Roasted garlic adds a sweet, mellow flavor to the dip.
- Try mix-ins like sun-dried tomatoes, lemon zest, or a drizzle of honey for variation.
- Store seasoned oil in the fridge for up to 2 days; bring to room temperature before serving.
- Bread is best fresh but can be rewarmed at 300°F for a few minutes.
