Description

Olive Oil Dip with Warm Bread is a quick, elegant appetizer featuring flavorful extra virgin olive oil seasoned with garlic, herbs, and spices. Served with crusty warm bread, it’s rustic, comforting, and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil (high quality)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or roasted
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 loaf crusty bread (baguette, ciabatta, or sourdough)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Warm the bread for 8–10 minutes until crusty on the outside and soft inside.
  2. Pour olive oil into a shallow serving dish or small bowl.
  3. Add garlic, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
  4. If desired, drizzle in balsamic vinegar and sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
  5. Slice or tear the warmed bread and serve alongside the dip.

Notes

  • Use fresh herbs for brighter flavor—double the amount if substituting dried herbs.
  • Roasted garlic adds a sweet, mellow flavor to the dip.
  • Try mix-ins like sun-dried tomatoes, lemon zest, or a drizzle of honey for variation.
  • Store seasoned oil in the fridge for up to 2 days; bring to room temperature before serving.
  • Bread is best fresh but can be rewarmed at 300°F for a few minutes.
