Description
Lemon Basil Salmon Rolls are a fresh, elegant appetizer or light meal featuring tender salmon wrapped with zesty lemon, aromatic basil, and creamy cheese. They’re light, flavorful, and effortlessly gourmet.
Ingredients
- 8 oz thinly sliced salmon (smoked or fresh, sushi-grade)
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- Juice of ½ lemon
- Zest of ½ lemon
- 8–10 fresh basil leaves
- 2 Tbsp cream cheese or ricotta (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional garnish: lemon slices or extra basil
Instructions
- If using fresh salmon, season with salt, pepper, olive oil, lemon juice, and zest. If using smoked salmon, skip seasoning and pat dry.
- Lay salmon slices on a clean surface, slightly overlapping to form 8–10 rectangles.
- Spread a thin layer of cream cheese or ricotta over each rectangle, if using, leaving a small border.
- Top with a basil leaf or torn basil pieces.
- Roll each rectangle tightly away from the border, sealing with a dab of cream cheese or lemon juice.
- Place rolls seam-side down on a serving platter.
- Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice. Garnish with lemon zest and basil if desired.
Notes
- Swap basil with dill or chives for variation.
- Add capers or jalapeños for a spicy kick.
- Use labneh or goat cheese instead of cream cheese.
- Include cucumber strips or roasted pepper for crunch.
- Alternate smoked and fresh salmon for a colorful presentation.
