Description

A creative and comforting dish that combines fluffy baked potatoes with rich lasagna-style meat sauce and melted cheese for a hearty, satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or sausage
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups tomato sauce or marinara
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Bake the potatoes for 45–60 minutes until tender.
  3. While the potatoes bake, heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and cook the ground beef or sausage with onion and garlic until browned.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Let simmer for 10–15 minutes.
  5. Once the potatoes are cooked, slice them open and fluff the insides with a fork.
  6. Add a spoonful of ricotta cheese into each potato.
  7. Top with the meat sauce, then sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese over the top.
  8. Return the potatoes to the oven and bake for about 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use sweet potatoes for a slightly sweeter variation.
  • Substitute meat with sautéed vegetables for a vegetarian version.
  • Add béchamel sauce for extra richness.
  • Include spinach or mushrooms for added flavor and nutrients.
  • Prepare the filling ahead of time to save time when assembling.
