Hot Honey Fried Chicken Sliders with Candied Jalapeños are crispy, juicy mini sandwiches bursting with flavor. Spicy-sweet hot honey, crunchy fried chicken, and tangy candied jalapeños come together in soft slider buns for a bold, irresistible bite.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into slider-sized pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tbsp hot sauce (optional)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
- 4–5 fresh jalapeños, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 8–10 slider buns
- 2 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
- Optional: pickles, coleslaw, or mayo
Instructions
- Marinate chicken in buttermilk and hot sauce for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
- In a saucepan, combine sliced jalapeños, sugar, vinegar, water, garlic powder, and salt. Simmer 10–15 minutes until slightly thickened. Let cool.
- In another saucepan, warm honey with red pepper flakes and vinegar. Keep warm.
- Mix flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Dredge marinated chicken in mixture, pressing to coat.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry chicken pieces 4–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Drain on a rack or paper towels.
- Butter and toast slider buns in a skillet until golden.
- Assemble sliders: place chicken on buns, drizzle with hot honey, top with candied jalapeños and other toppings. Serve immediately.
