Heart-Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies are a fun and festive twist on a classic treat. Made with soft, chewy cookie dough packed with chocolate chips and cut into adorable heart shapes, they’re perfect for Valentine’s Day, birthdays, or just spreading a little love.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips or chunks
- Optional: sprinkles, melted chocolate for drizzling, heart-shaped cookie cutter
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet mixture.
- Stir in chocolate chips. Cover and chill the dough for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut into heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
- Place cookies on prepared baking sheets and bake for 8–10 minutes, or until edges are just golden.
- Let cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Decorate as desired.
Notes
- Chilling the dough helps cookies hold their shape during baking.
- Use mini or white chocolate chips, or add candy-coated chocolates for variation.
- Dip cooled cookies in melted chocolate and add sprinkles for extra flair.
- Store cookies in an airtight container with a slice of bread to keep them soft.
