Garlic herb & spinach puff pastry rolls are flaky, golden spirals filled with cheesy spinach and aromatic herbs. Perfect as a savory snack or elegant appetizer, they’re quick to make and always a crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 2 cups fresh spinach (or 1 cup frozen spinach, thawed and drained)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 3 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan or shredded mozzarella
- 1 tsp mixed herbs (thyme, parsley, oregano)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil or butter and sauté garlic until fragrant. Add spinach and cook until wilted (or heated through if using frozen). Season with salt, pepper, and herbs.
- Let cool slightly, then stir in cream cheese and parmesan until combined.
- Unfold puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and roll slightly to smooth seams.
- Spread spinach mixture evenly over pastry, leaving a small border.
- Roll pastry into a log from the long side and slice into 1-inch rolls.
- Place rolls cut-side up on the baking sheet. Brush tops with beaten egg.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes or until golden and puffed. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Add feta or goat cheese for a tangy variation.
- Try kale or chard instead of spinach for variety.
- Store in fridge for 3 days; reheat in oven for best texture.
- Unbaked rolls can be frozen and baked from frozen with a few extra minutes.
