Description

The fried chicken Caesar sandwich combines crispy, juicy chicken with creamy Caesar dressing, crisp romaine, and a buttery toasted bun. It’s a delicious twist on the classic Caesar salad, packed into a satisfying sandwich perfect for lunch, dinner, or game day.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • 1 cup chopped romaine lettuce
  • 1/2 cup Caesar dressing
  • 1/4 cup shaved Parmesan cheese
  • 4 brioche or sandwich buns
  • Optional: lemon juice, anchovy paste, crushed croutons, sliced tomatoes, avocado, or hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken in buttermilk for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Remove chicken from marinade and dredge in seasoned flour, pressing to coat well.
  5. Fry chicken in hot oil for 5–6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a rack to rest.
  6. Lightly toast buns and spread Caesar dressing on both the top and bottom halves.
  7. Assemble sandwiches with romaine, fried chicken, shaved Parmesan, and additional dressing or optional toppings.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Use grilled or air-fried chicken for a lighter option.
  • Add crushed croutons for crunch inside the sandwich.
  • Spice it up with hot sauce or spicy Caesar dressing.
  • Keep components separate for storing and reheat chicken in oven or air fryer.
  • Brioche buns provide a rich balance to the crispy chicken, but any soft bun works.
