This easy Texas trash dip is a warm, cheesy Tex-Mex appetizer made with refried beans, cream cheese, and melted cheese. Perfect for parties, game days, and gatherings, it’s quick to prep and irresistibly creamy.
Ingredients
- 1 (16 oz) can refried beans
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack or Mexican blend cheese
- Optional mix-ins: 1/2 cup green chilies, 1/2 cup black beans, 1/4 cup diced jalapeños, 1/4 cup salsa
- Optional toppings: sliced green onions, black olives, diced tomatoes, chopped cilantro
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the refried beans, cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning. Mix until smooth and well blended.
- Spread the mixture evenly into a baking dish (8×8 or similar).
- Top with shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges are slightly golden.
- Remove from oven, add desired toppings, and serve hot with tortilla chips.
Notes
- Add cooked ground beef or sausage for a meaty version.
- Use pepper jack for a spicier kick.
- Layer salsa or enchilada sauce under the cheese for extra flavor.
- Can be made ahead and baked just before serving.
