Description

This easy Texas trash dip is a warm, cheesy Tex-Mex appetizer made with refried beans, cream cheese, and melted cheese. Perfect for parties, game days, and gatherings, it’s quick to prep and irresistibly creamy.


Ingredients

  • 1 (16 oz) can refried beans
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack or Mexican blend cheese
  • Optional mix-ins: 1/2 cup green chilies, 1/2 cup black beans, 1/4 cup diced jalapeños, 1/4 cup salsa
  • Optional toppings: sliced green onions, black olives, diced tomatoes, chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the refried beans, cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning. Mix until smooth and well blended.
  3. Spread the mixture evenly into a baking dish (8×8 or similar).
  4. Top with shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese.
  5. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges are slightly golden.
  6. Remove from oven, add desired toppings, and serve hot with tortilla chips.

Notes

  • Add cooked ground beef or sausage for a meaty version.
