Description
A hearty low carb pizza casserole made with seasoned ground meat, rich marinara sauce, melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, and classic pizza toppings baked together in a comforting dish.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup low carb marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1/4 cup chopped bell peppers
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until softened.
- Add minced garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef or turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease if necessary.
- Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for a few minutes to blend flavors.
- Spread the meat and sauce mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Add pepperoni slices, chopped bell peppers, and black olives.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the casserole cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Mushrooms or spinach can be added for extra vegetables.
- Italian sausage can replace ground beef for a richer flavor.
- Provolone cheese can be mixed with mozzarella for deeper flavor.
- Red pepper flakes can be added for a spicy variation.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- Reheat in the microwave or in a 350°F (175°C) oven until warmed through.
- The casserole can be frozen for up to 2 months and thawed before reheating.
