Description

A hearty low carb pizza casserole made with seasoned ground meat, rich marinara sauce, melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, and classic pizza toppings baked together in a comforting dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup low carb marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup chopped bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until softened.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef or turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  5. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for a few minutes to blend flavors.
  6. Spread the meat and sauce mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the top.
  8. Add pepperoni slices, chopped bell peppers, and black olives.
  9. Bake for 20–25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let the casserole cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Mushrooms or spinach can be added for extra vegetables.
  • Italian sausage can replace ground beef for a richer flavor.
  • Provolone cheese can be mixed with mozzarella for deeper flavor.
  • Red pepper flakes can be added for a spicy variation.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat in the microwave or in a 350°F (175°C) oven until warmed through.
  • The casserole can be frozen for up to 2 months and thawed before reheating.
