Description

These Easy One Hour Cinnamon Rolls are soft, gooey, and packed with cinnamon sugar flavor. Made from scratch in just one hour, they’re perfect for when you want warm, comforting rolls fast—without the long rise time.

Ingredients

  • Dough:
  • 2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Filling:
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 Tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp milk (or cream)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C) and grease a 9-inch round or square baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine yeast, warm milk, and sugar. Let sit 5 minutes until bubbly.
  3. Stir in egg and melted butter. Add flour and salt; mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for 1–2 minutes until smooth.
  5. Roll dough into a 12×9-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter evenly over it.
  6. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over buttered dough.
  7. Roll the dough tightly into a log from the long edge. Pinch seam to seal.
  8. Cut into 9 equal rolls and place cut-side up in prepared pan.
  9. Bake for 18–22 minutes, until puffed and golden.
  10. Whisk glaze ingredients together. Let rolls cool 5 minutes before drizzling with glaze.
  11. Serve warm for the best gooey experience.

Notes

  • Add chopped nuts or raisins to filling for texture.
  • Swap in cream cheese for butter for a richer filling.
  • Add citrus zest to glaze for brightness.
  • Layer caramel sauce under cinnamon sugar for extra indulgence.
  • Use muffin tin for individually crisped edges.
