Description
A hearty and comforting cabbage burger casserole made with seasoned ground beef, tender cabbage, and melted cheddar, baked until golden and slightly crispy on top.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 cups green cabbage, chopped
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup heavy cream or milk
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Optional toppings:
- Diced pickles
- Chopped parsley
- Burger sauce or ketchup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add diced onion and cook until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart.
- Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and oregano.
- Stir in chopped cabbage and cook 5–7 minutes until slightly softened.
- Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Whisk eggs and heavy cream together, then pour evenly over the mixture.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and center is set.
- Let rest 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Add Dijon mustard or Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor.
- Broil for 2–3 minutes at the end for extra crispiness.
- Store leftovers up to 4 days in the refrigerator.
- Freeze portions up to 2 months and thaw before reheating.
