Ingredients

  • Cod fillets
  • Soy sauce
  • Fresh ginger, grated
  • Garlic, minced
  • Honey or brown sugar
  • Rice vinegar or lime juice
  • Sesame oil
  • Olive oil
  • Black pepper
  • Optional: red pepper flakes
  • Optional: green onions or sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat cod fillets dry and season lightly with black pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, ginger, garlic, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add cod and cook 3–4 minutes per side until it flakes easily.
  5. Pour the ginger soy glaze into the pan, simmering for 1–2 minutes and spooning the sauce over the fish.
  6. Remove from heat once glaze thickens slightly and coats the cod.
  7. Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Optional: Bake cod instead of pan-searing by pouring glaze over the fish and baking at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes.
