Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup fresh strawberries, finely chopped (or 1/4 cup strawberry preserves)
- 20–24 wonton wrappers
- 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
- Optional: chocolate or strawberry sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or pan over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gently fold in chopped strawberries or use a small amount of strawberry preserves.
- Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.
- Brush edges with beaten egg, then fold into triangles or gather corners and seal tightly.
- Ensure all edges are sealed well to prevent leaks during frying.
- Fry wontons in batches for 2–3 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with dipping sauce if desired.
Notes
- Thaw and drain frozen strawberries well to avoid watery filling.
- Don’t overfill wrappers—this prevents bursting during frying.
- Try baking at 375°F for 12–15 minutes as a lighter option.
- Customize with other fruits like raspberries or peaches.
- Drizzle with melted chocolate or serve with whipped cream for extra flair.
