Description

Rich and elegant Creamy Garlic Shrimp made with tender shrimp simmered in a silky, garlicky Parmesan cream sauce. This quick and comforting dish is perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Pat shrimp dry and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat butter or olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour in chicken broth and simmer for 2–3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
  7. Add Parmesan cheese and stir until sauce thickens and becomes smooth.
  8. Season with additional salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired.
  9. Return shrimp to the skillet and simmer 2–3 minutes, spooning sauce over them.
  10. Stir in lemon juice and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Avoid overcooking shrimp to prevent a rubbery texture.
  • Add spinach or sun-dried tomatoes for variation.
  • Substitute half-and-half for a lighter version.
  • Store refrigerated for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently and avoid freezing due to dairy-based sauce.
