Description
Creamy Garlic Chicken is a quick and comforting dish featuring golden-seared chicken in a luscious garlic cream sauce. Made in one pan and ready in under an hour, it’s perfect over mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter (for searing)
- 4–6 garlic cloves, minced or thinly sliced
- 3/4 cup chicken broth
- 3/4 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh parsley or thyme, chopped (for garnish)
- Optional: 1 tbsp lemon juice or 1/4 cup white wine (for deglazing/brightness)
Instructions
- Season chicken with salt and pepper, then dredge lightly in flour, shaking off excess.
- Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken on both sides until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add more oil/butter if needed. Sauté garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Deglaze with chicken broth (and wine, if using), scraping up browned bits.
- Add cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Let sauce thicken slightly, then stir in Parmesan if using.
- Return chicken to the pan. Spoon sauce over chicken and simmer a few more minutes.
- Garnish with parsley or thyme. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.
Notes
- Add mushrooms or spinach for more texture and flavor.
- For a lighter version, use half-and-half or whole milk instead of cream.
- Unsweetened coconut milk makes a great dairy-free alternative.
- A splash of lemon juice adds a bright, fresh finish.
- Reheat gently on the stovetop with a splash of broth or cream for best results.
