Description
Churros with cinnamon sugar are golden, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Rolled in a sweet cinnamon-sugar coating, they’re a nostalgic and irresistible fried treat that’s perfect for dipping in chocolate, caramel, or dulce de leche.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
- For cinnamon sugar coating:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and stir in flour all at once until dough forms and pulls away from pan. Cool slightly.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Heat oil in a skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Pipe 4–6 inch strips of dough into hot oil, cutting with scissors. Fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden.
- Remove with slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Roll warm churros in cinnamon sugar until coated.
- Serve immediately with dipping sauce if desired.
Notes
- Fill churros with chocolate or dulce de leche for a richer treat.
- Add orange zest to dough for a citrus twist.
- Make mini churro bites by piping small portions directly into oil.
- Sprinkle sea salt over cinnamon sugar for a sweet-savory balance.
