Chocolate banana oatmeal treat is a quick and healthy snack or breakfast made with ripe bananas, oats, and a touch of chocolate. Naturally sweetened and easy to customize, it’s perfect for satisfying sweet cravings without the guilt.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder or 1/4 cup chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp peanut butter or almond butter (optional)
- 1–2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Optional add-ins: 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 cup chopped nuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet or small pan with parchment paper.
- Mash bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth.
- Stir in oats, cocoa powder or chocolate chips, nut butter, honey or maple syrup, vanilla, salt, and any optional add-ins.
- If mixture seems dry, add a splash of milk or water to reach desired consistency.
- Scoop spoonfuls for cookies or press mixture into prepared pan for bars.
- Bake cookies for 10–12 minutes or bars for 20–25 minutes, until set and lightly golden on edges.
- Cool before serving, or enjoy warm for a gooey texture.
Notes
- Use quick oats for a softer texture or rolled oats for more chew.
- Recipe can be made no-bake by chilling mixture instead of baking.
- Add-ins like dried fruit or protein powder can enhance nutrition and flavor.
