Description

Flavorful chicken tacos made with juicy seasoned chicken, warm tortillas, and fresh toppings. This quick and customizable dish is perfect for weeknight dinners or casual gatherings, delivering bold flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts or chicken thighs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 8 corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1 avocado or 1/2 cup guacamole
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken into small strips or bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a bowl, mix the chicken with olive oil, minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, paprika, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and lime juice.
  3. Toss until the chicken is evenly coated with the seasoning.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Cook the seasoned chicken for about 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fully cooked and lightly golden.
  6. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until soft and flexible.
  7. Place a portion of the cooked chicken onto each tortilla.
  8. Add toppings such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, avocado or guacamole, and fresh cilantro.
  9. Finish with a squeeze of lime juice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Chicken thighs can be used for a juicier and more flavorful filling.
  • Add sliced bell peppers and onions for a fajita-style variation.
  • Marinating the chicken for 30 minutes enhances the flavor.
  • A simple sauce can be made by mixing sour cream, lime juice, and garlic powder.
  • Store leftover chicken in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Keep tortillas and toppings separate until ready to serve.
