Description

This Cheese Bread Recipe creates a soft, savory loaf filled with melty cheese, perfect as a side, snack, or the centerpiece of a comforting meal.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder or dried herbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix in softened butter, egg, and salt.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and knead in shredded cheese and optional seasonings.
  6. Shape into a loaf and place in a greased 9×5-inch pan. Let rise 30–40 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  8. Cool slightly in pan, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

  • Use freshly shredded cheese for better melt and flavor.
  • Sprinkle extra cheese on top before baking for added flair.
