Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder or dried herbs (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Mix in softened butter, egg, and salt.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and knead in shredded cheese and optional seasonings.
- Shape into a loaf and place in a greased 9×5-inch pan. Let rise 30–40 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and cooked through.
- Cool slightly in pan, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
