Description

This Black Garlic Butter Lobster Tail with Thyme Glaze is an elegant seafood dish featuring sweet, tender lobster brushed with rich black garlic butter and finished with a glossy thyme glaze. It’s luxurious yet easy to make, perfect for date nights or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 2 lobster tails, thawed if frozen
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 23 black garlic cloves, mashed into a paste
  • 1 clove fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (plus extra for glaze)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1/4 tsp smoked paprika or chili flakes
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) or set broiler to high.
  2. Butterfly lobster tails by cutting the shell lengthwise and gently pulling meat on top of shell.
  3. In a bowl, mix softened butter with mashed black garlic, minced garlic, thyme, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika if using.
  4. Brush lobster meat generously with black garlic butter.
  5. Place lobster tails on a foil-lined baking sheet and roast for 10–12 minutes, or broil for 6–8 minutes, until opaque and golden.
  6. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, simmer 1 tbsp butter with thyme and lemon juice for 2–3 minutes to make glaze.
  7. Spoon thyme glaze over lobster before serving. Garnish with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Finish with white wine in the glaze for extra depth.
  • Sprinkle Parmesan before broiling for a cheesy crust.
  • Substitute scallops or shrimp with the same black garlic butter and glaze.
  • For a smoky flavor, add chipotle powder to the butter.
  • Grill instead of roasting—cook shell-side down over medium heat 8–10 minutes.
