Description

Balsamic Strawberry Caprese is a vibrant, refreshing salad that swaps tomatoes for ripe strawberries, paired with creamy mozzarella and fresh basil. Drizzled with olive oil and tangy-sweet balsamic glaze, this elegant twist on the classic Caprese is perfect for spring and summer meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 68 oz fresh mozzarella (sliced or small balls like bocconcini)
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp balsamic glaze or reduction
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Optional: arugula or baby spinach as a serving base

Instructions

  1. Slice strawberries and mozzarella into similar-sized pieces for even layering.
  2. Arrange the strawberries, mozzarella, and basil leaves on a plate, slightly overlapping in layers.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic glaze.
  4. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  5. Serve immediately, or chill briefly to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm strawberries for the best texture and flavor.
  • Make your own balsamic glaze by simmering balsamic vinegar until thickened.
  • For added crunch, sprinkle chopped walnuts or pistachios on top.
  • Add arugula or baby spinach underneath for extra greens.
