Description

Apple brownies are a warm, chewy dessert bar filled with fresh apples, cozy cinnamon, and a dense, brownie-like texture. They’re a perfect fall treat or anytime snack for apple lovers.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until fully incorporated.
  6. Fold in the chopped apples and nuts, if using.
  7. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool in the pan before slicing into squares and serving.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best texture.
  • Can substitute half the apples with pears for variation.
  • Add a maple glaze or serve warm with vanilla ice cream for a dessert twist.
  • Can be made gluten-free with a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
  • Store in fridge or freezer for longer shelf life.
