Description
A juicy and flavorful whole chicken cooked in the air fryer with crispy golden skin and simple seasonings, creating a quick roasted-style chicken with minimal effort.
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken (3–4 lbs)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Pat the whole chicken dry with paper towels to help the skin crisp during cooking.
- Rub the chicken all over with olive oil.
- Season evenly with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dried thyme or rosemary, salt, and black pepper.
- Place the chicken breast-side down in the air fryer basket.
- Cook at 360°F (180°C) for 30 minutes.
- Carefully flip the chicken so the breast side faces up.
- Continue cooking for another 20–30 minutes until the skin is golden and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for about 10 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Choose a 3–4 lb chicken so it fits comfortably in most air fryer baskets.
- Adding lemon halves or fresh herbs inside the cavity adds extra aroma.
- Smoked paprika can provide a deeper smoky flavor.
- Cajun or Italian seasoning can replace the spice blend for variety.
- Resting the chicken before carving keeps the meat juicy.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
