Description

Air fryer grilled cheese delivers crispy, golden bread and perfectly melted cheese with no skillet or flipping required. It’s a fast, hands-off comfort food classic that’s perfect for busy days, snacks, or easy lunches.


Ingredients

  • Sliced bread (white, sourdough, whole wheat, etc.)
  • Slices of cheese (American, cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • Butter or mayonnaise (for spreading on the outside of the bread)

Instructions

  1. Spread butter or mayo on one side of each slice of bread (the outside).
  2. Assemble the sandwich with cheese between the unbuttered sides.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Place the sandwich in the air fryer basket and cook for 4–5 minutes.
  5. Flip and cook for another 2–3 minutes, until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
  6. Remove, let cool for 1 minute, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use shredded cheese if preferred — about ½ cup per sandwich.
  • Try garlic butter or sprinkle Parmesan on the outside for extra flavor.
  • Add tomato slices, caramelized onions, or hot sauce for variation.
  • To reheat, use the air fryer again for 2–3 minutes to restore crispiness.
  • Gluten-free bread works well if sturdy enough to hold filling.
