Description
A quick and comforting grilled cheese made with soft Hawaiian sweet rolls, layered with mozzarella and cheddar, brushed with garlic butter, and baked until golden and melty.
Ingredients
- 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 6 slices mozzarella cheese
- 6 slices cheddar cheese
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally without separating the individual rolls.
- Place the bottom half of the rolls in a baking dish or on a baking sheet.
- Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise evenly over the bread.
- Layer the mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly across the rolls.
- Place the top half of the rolls back over the cheese.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley.
- Brush the butter mixture generously over the tops of the rolls.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden and slightly crispy.
- Remove from the oven, allow to cool for about 1 minute, slice along the roll lines, and serve warm.
Notes
- You can substitute cheeses such as provolone, Swiss, gouda, or pepper jack.
- Add sliced ham or turkey for a heartier sandwich.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle grated parmesan over the buttered tops before baking.
- Add sliced jalapeños or crushed red pepper for a spicy variation.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in a 350°F oven for about 8 minutes or in an air fryer for 3–4 minutes for best texture.
