Description

A quick and comforting grilled cheese made with soft Hawaiian sweet rolls, layered with mozzarella and cheddar, brushed with garlic butter, and baked until golden and melty.

Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 6 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally without separating the individual rolls.
  3. Place the bottom half of the rolls in a baking dish or on a baking sheet.
  4. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise evenly over the bread.
  5. Layer the mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly across the rolls.
  6. Place the top half of the rolls back over the cheese.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley.
  8. Brush the butter mixture generously over the tops of the rolls.
  9. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden and slightly crispy.
  10. Remove from the oven, allow to cool for about 1 minute, slice along the roll lines, and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute cheeses such as provolone, Swiss, gouda, or pepper jack.
  • Add sliced ham or turkey for a heartier sandwich.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle grated parmesan over the buttered tops before baking.
  • Add sliced jalapeños or crushed red pepper for a spicy variation.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a 350°F oven for about 8 minutes or in an air fryer for 3–4 minutes for best texture.
